There Is A Scripture 12-01-2017

“I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.”  Romans 7:21 AKJV.

The other day my wife and I came home from going somewhere and there on the porch was a rusty, blue go-cart frame, minus the motor, that someone had put out for the garbage, my grandson had spotted and rolled all the way home, not his home. He was no where around but I pretty much knew how the conversation would go and his vision for the cart. He doesn’t see trash. He just sees something that needs “fix’n”. It’s all perfectly good stuff, with a little work. And I don’t want to discourage that perspective, because I have a Maker that thinks along those same lines, luckily for me and for many others.

So what to do? He could and he does provide enough cast offs to keep me and his grandmother and his mother busy with time for nothing else, not to mention, where do you put all this stuff?

So ordinarily we handle this kind of thing with a minimum of drama and usually it is an acceptable balance of stuff laying around and other stuff that goes back out to the curb.

But later I was working on a little project of my own and I saw him coming. I knew that he wanted to talk and about what, and that he had the arguments all worked out in his mind to bring me around, because he already knew what I thought, even if we hadn’t talked already.

Before he even got close enough to start I had this sort of anger starting. I was about to speak to him in a bad way. I just didn’t have the patience this time. But then I realized I had been taking that attitude and voice and choice of words quite a bit lately and I was bothered by it.

That’s the part. The Law of God instructs, requires of me to be patient and if I can’t be patient, to be kind, and if I can’t be kind to be self controlled, enough options to cover whatever place I am in my walk.

“For the good that I would, I do not; but the evil which I would not, that I do.” Romans 7:19 AKJV.

That’s the place I was headed for.

“Depart from me, ye evildoers; for I will keep the commandments of my God.” Psalm 119:115 AKJV.

The spirit of that verse was my shield and sword against the adversary, even if I hadn’t thought or spoken it, convicting me, bringing to my remembrance the heart I am supposed to have. He keeps my foot from stepping into the trap. He enables me to act rightly in all situations.

We walked down the driveway to my house, his too really, if I want him to feel like my house is home for him anytime he comes, and we talked like a grandfather and grandson should.

“For we know that the Law is spiritual…”  Romans 7:14 AKJV.

“…I will put My Law in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts, and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”  Jeremiah 31:33 AKJV.

Good and evil are right there with us all the time. Who or what do we listen too, the evil in our members or the good in our minds and hearts?

The Word cannot be a shield and a sword if It is not in us. And It cannot be in us if we don’t get into It and in faith, listen and obey.

“Depart from me, ye evildoers…” Don’t bother whispering in my ear. The Spirit and power of Yahweh is written on my heart, in my inward parts. I will know and keep His commandments.

Course the adversary won’t quit. No matter because:

Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.

Thank You Father.

May God’s love be in us all.
