“…your Father, who knows what you do in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:4 CJB.
It’s a hard thing to do but to get to that point in our minds and hearts where we are sincerely concerned about having God’s approval of our thoughts and actions, that that would be our primary motivation, well that’s a big deal. It means we have set aside every other consideration that would influence us and are concerned only about what He thinks of us, first. It means that we would consider what He thought, His response, to be more important than anyone else’s.
There is wisdom in Yeshua’s words to separate ourselves and get alone, privately with our Father to talk things over.
There can be no pretending, no false faces, no rabbit trails in this one on one time together. It is a time of humility and gratitude, of inquiry and comfort. It is a time for listening.
He advises us to emerge from the privacy of prayer to a way of being active that brings attention to our Father, and that we become kind of invisible in the process. He knows that it requires us to take a pass on our own glory for the sake of His.
He reassures that what is done quietly with low visibility is not missed but is very much known, that what we feel is of little value or insignificant is wanted and valued and a thing He will work for good.
When His knowing and approval becomes the greatest of rewards for us it will not be so hard to be obedient. It’s easier to do, happens naturally, spontaneously, when we don’t care if anyone is looking… but Him. Good will come of it and will become common place.
May You be lifted up and loved Father.
In Yeshua’s name we pray,
May God’s love be in us all.
