“Be careful not to forget Adonai your God by not obeying His Mitsvot, rulings and regulations…” Deuteronomy 8:11 CJB.
“…you will become proud-hearted…you will think to yourself, ‘My own power and the strength of my own hand has gotten me this wealth.’” Deuteronomy 8:14,17 CJB.
I guess there are about a million or so books, studies, aids and medications for improving or making our memories better. And that’s all well and good.
But Yahweh has given us a way to remember Him apart from these.
When I was a kid some buddies and I were talking about cars and one of the guys was saying that he liked a certain model but hadn’t really seen too many on the road. But, he said, after he first thought about that particular car he started seeing them all over the place. He thought that strange but we all had had experiences like that and understood. What we don’t think about we don’t see even though it has been there all along.
Our Teacher, the One who is desiring to fellowship with us and we with Him provided an invaluable instruction in how to be always mindful of Him. And that is to obey His instructions. To know what they are we have to read them and talk about them and be obedient to the guiding and prompting of His Spirit in applying them. Then we will see not forget… Him.
Living day to day if we, or at least if I, haven’t been thinking in my mind about a particular Word and I simply react to a situation, I may not see the connection that situation, out there in the world where I am, has directly to that Word, may not see it as something God’s instruction applies to, may forget God, not see Him as part of it and think I am handling things on my own.
But if we are continually in His Word to know His instructions and purpose to obey them, we will start seeing around us everywhere the opportunity to apply them. And it will keep us in memory of Him always, because indeed, there is nothing in our lives that His Word does not apply to.
A very powerful aid to always being mindful of Yah, Abba Father is simply to read and obey His Word. The practical applications will become visible all around us and the connection, with our Father will never be weakened or forgotten. Save you a ton of money on books, tying knots in your socks or strings around your fingers. Save us from not glorifying our Lord.
Father, thank You for this gloriously bright and beautiful new day.
Thank You for providing Your perfect Word.
Thank You that it has the power not only to guide us correctly but also to make clear, make visible its relevance and applicability, the need for it, in every situation of our lives.
And thank You that it is a means to walk closely and continually with You.
In Yeshua’s name we pray,
May God’s love be in us all.
