There Is A Scripture 03-02-2018

My wife showed me a post on line of a good old boy looking fella who was examining two types of weapons.

One was a rifle of some sort, the other was the Bible.

His point was that our focus was on the wrong weapon.

Focus on the Word of God, study and apply it as a weapon against evil and the other weapon, the rifle, will not be used to do harm.

Billy Graham said that “Sin is a disease.” All men suffer from it. It destroys them. The only cure is placing our faith in Yeshua, submitting our lives to Him and living our lives by His Word.

How effective can we be if we have to think about what we believe at a moment when what is needed is to know and be able to speak what we believe and why?

“…treat the Messiah as holy, as Lord in your hearts; while remaining always ready to give a reasoned answer to anyone who asks you to explain the hope you have in you…” 1Peter3:15 CJB.

How many times I have driven down the road wondering why I didn’t say this or do that at the time it was needed. Why was it coming to me now and not then?

My answer lies in part, in 1Peter. Maybe yours does as well.

There are times when I believe the Spirit within us holds our tongues, because the time is not right, but many times, for me at least, it is because I haven’t given enough thought to expressing what I believe, and how what I believe and work to live by, has affected my personal life, the struggles as well as the blessings.

The personal speaking of God’s Word and the testimony of how it has worked in our personal lives is what catches the ear of those who don’t believe or those who believe but are struggling in some way.

I guess what I am getting at is that we should be prepared ahead of time so that when the opportunity arises we can be a witness with a testimony right there and then, as the Spirit leads, simply and truthfully.

Thinking of it that way has clarified another scripture for me.

“…And wear on your feet the readiness that comes from the Good News of shalom.” Ephesians 6:15 CJB.

Readiness is the key word, always be ready.

Choose the weapon against which there is no defense, God’s Word, wield it with skill and courage and do battle against evil and for Good.

Father, there are so many times when we feel we don’t get it right, what good have we done.

But whether or not we see an outcome of our actions and words, Father, we seek to know Your will and work to apply it, trusting and knowing it will accomplish Your purpose.

May our personal speaking of Your Word and the confession of its good in our lives strike a chord in the hearts of those who see and hear and bring their attention to You.

In the simplest or most complicated scenarios of life may we be ready… and enable us to be able, to use the weapon of Your powerful spiritual Word for good.

May we be useful servants.

May You be pleased and glorified.

In Yeshua’s name we pray,

May God’s love be in us all.
